3 year anniversary! Looking back...

Time for a history lesson!  Today is a special day...on February 4th, 2014, Jason, Alysia, and Taylyn Claussen officially opened Next Stop Kids Shop.  It's mission is a simple one: make gently used children's clothing affordable for everyone because kids grow up so fast and clothing for them is expensive and it shouldn't feel that way to the parents.  Amanda Lasky was one of two employees they hired at the time, and simple advertising was word to mouth...

In 2015, the Claussens were looking for someone to take over the shop, and they asked Amanda.  After some debating and talking with her husband, Greg, they decided to give it a shot.  On February 9th, they took over and continued the mission the Claussens started.  That first year of ownership had a lot of adversity both good, bad, and bittersweet.  Not only did the Laskys now ran the shop, but Amanda was pregnant with twins boys!  In July, complications arose and the twins were born 3 months early.  Sadly one of the boys didn't make it and the other one was in the NICU at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee for 3 months.  The shop hours changed to only 3 days a week in the middle of the city's tourist season so the proud parents could be with their son as much as possible.  Word had spread about what happened and With the help and support of the community to keep them financially stable both shop and personal along with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin to provide a place to stay while visiting their son,  The new owners manage to survive their family bittersweet event...

Feeling a debt of gratitude for all the community has done during their time of need, the Lasky's now hold fundraisers at the shop when ever they can as well as donate clothing or items to community events.  They hold an annual fundraiser for the RMHC of Eastern Wisconsin every year around the time the twins were born, They also have begun to fundraiser annually for the Dyaln John Thorne Memorial fund to help build locker rooms in his honor at a local high school football field.  As long as the shop remains open, they pledge to continue to do fundraisers and donate to good causes...

Now entering the 3rd year anniversary of the shop and 2nd year of ownership, a lot has changed.  Greg and Amanda now run the shop by themselves along with their son Emmet know around the shop as the V.P. of Cuteness making it a 100% family run business.  The shop has been redecorated on the inside over time to reflect a kid friendly/themed like atmosphere that won an award this year at the chamber banquet that we're very proud of.  Pushed our advertising by means of social media.  We have our own website and we're on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Save Local Now, Yelp, Foresquare, & Pinterest.  We also have a online shop through Shopify that induces a new rewards point program.  Yes, the shop has come along way since it opened in 2014, and we couldn't have done it with the kind and continued support of our friends, family, and the Waupaca community.  We look forward to providing the best service and friendly/family atmosphere to you now and in the future.  Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing you at the shop when you're in the Waupaca area.
